Express Entry/Federal Skilled Workers Program

The EE/FSW program caters to individuals coming from overseas. You need to meet the following criteria:

  • At least one year of work experience. The experience should be continuous. Only the work experience for the last 10 years will be counted.
  • A language proficiency score of NCLC or CLB 7
  • A minimum of high school diploma or any other degree
  • A minimum score of 67 on the Federal Skilled Workers Points System

These are the basic criteria you need to meet to be eligible for this program. The program also provides age benefits if your age between 21 and 35. You will have extra privileges if you can communicate in both French and English.

 

The minimum requirements for EE/FSW program

You need to work in any one of the following groups for skilled work experience:

  • Technical jobs or skilled trades (Skill Level B)
  • Professional jobs (Skill Level A)
  • Managerial jobs (Skill Level 0)

Your work experience should be relevant to your field of study so that it matches your primary occupation. Self-employment doesn’t qualify for this program. You are expected to work 30 hours per week for at least a year or 15 hours per week for two years.

Student work experience

You can get qualified through your student work experience as well as long as you meet the basic requirements of commissions and paid wages. Other requirements include proficiency in language tests and a certificate, degree or diploma from a Canadian DLI.

You need to acquire an educational credential assessment from a DLI in Canada if you are from a foreign country. There are five educational credential assessment institutions such as:

  • International Credential Evaluation Service
  • IQAS or International Qualification Assessment Service
  • ICAS or International Credential Assessment Service of Canada
  • WES or World Education Services
  • CES or Comparative Education Service
